Public Info Office wins 3 state awards

 The City of San Angelo’s Public Information Office won three trophies, including a first-place prize, against some of the largest cities in the state at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers’ conference last week. 

  • 1st Place:  Public Service Announcement (Marketing) - One of the few, the proud: Officer Marius Cobbs. This was a recruitment video featuring a San Angelo police officer who previously served in the military.
  • 2nd Place: Public Service Announcement (Educational) – Clearing the drains – Stormwater runoff and the Concho River. This program explained the impact of litter on the stormwater that flows into the Concho River.
  • 3rd Place: Special or One-Time Program (population over 100,000) – City Life: David Green. This program spotlighted the work of a Water Distribution supervisor. 

The awards were won in categories that included the state’s metropolitan offices. The videos can be viewed at and on SATV, Suddenlink channel 17. 

The awards were announced at a dinner in Denton at TAMIO’s annual conference. Communications Director Anthony Wilson serves as the organization’s treasurer; he helped plan the conference, facilitated two panel discussions, and introduced three speakers. 

An affiliate of the Texas Municipal League, TAMIO provides professional development for public information officers, and promotes active cooperation and the exchange of information and ideas among its membership.
