Public's input sought on housing survey

Post Date:05/10/2019

A citizen survey is underway to provide information needed to plan for San Angelo’s future housing needs. The San Angelo Comprehensive Housing Survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete, can be accessed at surveymonkey.com/r/SanAngeloEmployeeHousingSurvey.

The effort is sponsored by the City of San Angelo Development Corp. As the administrator of the half-cent sales tax for economic development, the COSADC recognizes a variety of high-quality and affordable housing options is vital to San Angelo’s growth. The COSADC partners with the City’s Neighborhood and Family Services Department on local housing projects.

The survey will help local public agencies better understand the city’s current housing situation, beneficial policy changes that could be made, and new housing choices that may be needed. Survey results will be made available to the public and to community leaders.

“By giving a few minutes of their time, citizens will give decision-makers the insight they need to address local housing issues,” Economic Development Director Guy Andrews said.

The COSADC hopes at least 1,200 respondents from the full range of incomes and housing types will complete the survey. Because the focus of the study is on workforce housing, officials want as many people as possible earning the local median income of $46,100 and below to share their thoughts and experiences.

Responses are completely anonymous. Those whose place of employment is outside of San Angelo should please refrain from taking the survey.

To access a paper copy of the survey, contact Andrews at 325-653-7197, ext. 1541, or guy.andrews@cosatx.us.
