Texas Ranger, stained glass among speaker series topics

The life and times of a 19th-century Texas Ranger and the women who created stained glass pieces will be among the topics of Fort Concho’s annual spring speaker series.

The series will offer a free history lesson from noon to 1 p.m. each of the four Wednesdays in April in the fort’s Commissary at 702 Burgess St. Attendees may bring a lunch or can order a sack lunch from Mr. T’s Deli for $8.75 by calling 325-657-4441 by 5 p.m. the preceding Monday.

This lineup of topics and speakers includes:

  • Wednesday, April 3: “West Texas Archeology” presented by Callan Clark, vice president of the Concho Valley Archeological Society.
  • Wednesday, April 10: “Saving the Oldest Town in Texas” by local historian Linda Thorsen Bond.
  • Wednesday, April 17: “Women Behind the Stained Glass” by local historian Diana Glossbrenner.
  • Wednesday, April 24: “The Life and Times of Ranger Benjamin Hamilton Anderson” by local historian Charles Anderson.
