Frontier Ladies Living History Symposium

Fort Concho hosts the 15th annual Frontier Ladies Living History Symposium this weekend, with a full program covering the food, clothing and general lifestyles of the women of the western frontier.

The event begins today and continues through Sunday, March 11. A few spaces for participants are available for a charge of $30. That includes all meals and some materials. Those interested should call Sharon Baird at 325-338-2149.

Guests are also welcome to drop by to visit the Ladies Bazaar in Officers’ Quarters 8 at the fort starting Friday, March 8, and continuing until 1 p.m. Sunday. Various presentations and workshops will be Saturday. The topics include first-person interpretation, apron-making, satin roses, tatting, and ribbon woven headdress-making.

The event also features a formal ladies tea Saturday afternoon.
