These are a few of the animals you will find at the San Angelo Nature Center.
Bullsnakes are large, nonvenomous snakes that have voracious appetites for rodents. While there is no evidence they kill rattlesnakes, they certainly out-eat them on any given day, often rendering patches of land barren of food for rattlesnakes and forcing them to move on. Jethro is our 7-foot bullsnake and is the nicest bullsnake you will ever encounter. He is particularly fond of our volunteer Blue Hinton and will hang like a belt around her waist for hours without complaint.
