There will be no trash pickup on Christmas and New Year’s days. Garbage collection will be delayed one day from Dec. 25 through Jan. 5. So, Monday’s routes will be serviced on Tuesday. Tuesday’s routes will be serviced on Wednesday, and so on into Saturday during the weeks of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Routes for commercial customers will also lag by a day during that two-week span. City offices will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1 for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Student artists honored at Christmas at Old Fort Concho

The works of nine student artists were recognized at Christmas at Old Fort Concho’s annual art contest over the weekend. The winners were:

Sixth and seventh grades

  1. “A Cup of Christmas Joy” by Avery Jameson, sixth grade, Wall Junior High School
  2. “The Nutcracker” by Jaelyn White, sixth grade, Grape Creek Middle School
  3. “Christmas Village” by Aleta Hernandez, sixth grade, Early Middle School

Eighth and ninth grades

  1. "The Arrival" by Tatum Schwaighofer, eighth grade, Irion County ISD
  2. "Christmas Ornaments" by Rhesa Key, ninth grade, Wall High School
  3. "Colt's Christmas" by Abbie Terry, eighth grade, Sterling City Junior High School

10th through 12th grades

  1. “Bus in the Snow” by Reid Scott, 10th grade, Wall High School
  2. “Snow Bird” by Kennedy Foster, 12th grade, Wall High School
  3. “Christmas Nights” by Katelynn Salvato, 11th grade, Veribest High School

All of the contest entries were displayed in the Quartermaster Building throughout Christmas at Old Fort Concho. The winning pieces are posted on the City of San Angelo-Public Information Facebook page.
