Three of their hits – “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” – are among the hall’s “500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.” Rolling Stone magazine ranked the Temptations number 68 on its list of the 100 greatest music artists of all time.
Other classic Temptations hits include “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and “Cloud Nine.”
Five musicians from Angelo State University assembled by Dr. John Irish, trumpet professor at ASU, will join the Temptations’ horn section for the show.
Joshua Haynes, the West Texas concert promoter who brought the Beach Boys to Foster Communications Coliseum in August, is promoting the Temptations concert. The Beach Boys show drew more than 5,000 fans.
Doors to the coliseum, 50 E. 43rd St., open at 6 p.m. on the day of the show. Showtime is 7 p.m. Jim Bass Ford is serving as the concert’s official platinum sponsor.
